Frances (b. 2000, Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington) is a student artist and media scholar studying at Te Waka Tūhura, Elam School of Fine Arts and Design in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland. Frances’ predominately image-based practice centres on the poetic interplay between image, text, and history and the avenues art offers for reconciling troubling histories and imagining hope-full futures. Grounded in ideas of place and belonging Frances’ work attempts to address the far-reaching implications of colonial force and anthropocentrism. Under an ecofeminist framework, her current work uses experimental moving image to weave women and biotic Others into the fascinating and troubling history of New Zealand’s ‘acclimatisation societies.’

She currently hosts Various Artists on 95bFM, among other things.
